Strangely, my little kitty, Ivy, who always stayed nearby, ended up missing one day. We live near some woods, and I was afraid that something bad happened to her when she disappeared. She was gone for over two months! In fact, thinking she was gone for good and that we would never see her again, we got another kitty, Speckles. However, a week after getting Speckles, we received a phone call that Ivy had been found and was living with a lady over 30 miles away. This lady was attempting to have Ivy fixed (even though she was already fixed) when the vet found Ivy’s microchip and told the lady that she may have had another owner. After receiving my name and telephone number from the vet, the lady called me to inform me that she had Ivy. I thought, ‘How crazy! How did Ivy end up 30 miles away?’ The lady stated that she works for a volunteer rescue shelter and that her daughter’s friend, who happened to live in my neighborhood, had found Ivy and thought she was homeless. Her daughter’s friend actually kept Ivy for a while, and then gave Ivy to this lady’s daughter, who also kept Ivy for a while. However, when this lady’s daughter started college, her daughter gave Ivy to her mom to keep. That is how Ivy ended up 30 miles away and was gone for over two months before being found. Unfortunately, Ivy does not like Speckles, the new kitty, but they are starting to get along, each in their happy separate worlds! Ivy is alive and reunited with her family thanks to her microchip! I know that I would have never have seen her again if it was not for the microchip! Thanks a million!
