Together Again: Wedding nightmare

About 2 1/2 years ago my now-husband and I were preparing for our wedding. We had just moved into a temporary housing situation that wouldn’t allow our cats (thank you, COVID), so his mother was keeping our 3 cats for us. The day before we were set to leave for our wedding (ceremony taking place about an hour from where we lived), our sweet Misti pushed the screen out of one of the windows in the house and ran away. My husband informed me of this as I got home and we were packing to leave and I was devastated. Misti is my emotional support animal and I was terrified thinking what could happen to her. Our “temporary” housing situation turned into a long-term nightmare, but the cats stayed at my mother-in-law’s house while we looked for a place. Two months to the day from her escape, and just as I convinced myself to give up hope, we got a call that someone found Misti and she was safe at a local animal hospital. The silly girl was found only about a block away from my mother-in-law’s house. She was skinny and scared, but safe and not hurt. She is now back to her full fluffy, happy, healthy self and we are all together again in our first home.
