In a single moment of inattention our irrepressible Jack Russel Terrier, Brownie, slipped out the door and headed for parts unknown. Dread was in our hearts as we searched the neighborhood and beyond and found not a trace. With a busy road nearby, we feared the worst, for Brownie had been with us for only two months and did not know the local hazards. Retreating back home, we began to plan the search strategy. First thing was to get on the PetLink website to report Brownie missing. Just as we logged on, the phone rang. It was PetLink reporting that Brownie had been found. That’s what you call fast service! Turned out Brownie had safely navigated that busy road, found himself on a hot day in front of a cool-looking Avenir Memory Care facility. When someone opened the front door to enter, Brownie made his move, introducing himself to the staff in the lobby and making many friends, Melanie and Chelsea in particular. They saw his red PetLink tag and called the number. Long story short, we rushed over to pick him up. There was a Rest of the Story. After a cool-down he had slipped out again and headed on down the road. Melanie and Chelsea jumped in a car, chased and retrieved him. That’s really above and beyond. Thanks to PetLink and the kindness of others, Brownie is home again, safe and sound.
