About a year or so ago, Bella, my Boxer, went missing. Bella likes to wander – usually it is just to the church to play basketball with the kids where she bumps the ball and they get to fetch – but this occasion was different. One evening when I got home, I realized Bella wan’t there. I asked my husband where she was and he had no clue. I went into panic mode, placed a ‘Lost Pet’ notice with PetLink, went to the pound and all that stuff. It was probably crazy, but I also put something on Craigslist, letting everyone know that my Bella may have been picked up and that, if they had her, they needed to understand she was microchipped.
The next day around 10:30 a.m. three things happened simultaneously – my cell phone rang, I got an email and my work phone rang. My cell was showing a message from PetLink telling me Bella had been found, my email said the same and the office phone call was from an animal shelter telling me they had Bella. The shelter was over an hour away, nowhere near our house. They told me that a woman had seen Bella on the road on her way to work and had gone back and picked her up because she was worried she would get hit by a car. The woman called the Humane Society and they advised her to bring Bella in so they could see if she was microchipped – and she was! I was so thankful for this kind lady, I left a gift card for her and made a donation to the animal shelter. Bella – because that’s Bella – when she saw me acted like, ‘Hey, there’s mom. Let’s go, I’m tired.’ Needless to say, she has been very good since then. Thanks, PetLink.
