We live in Georgia, so to stay safe and shaded outside, my Dachshund Buddy is sometimes tied to a dog run cable. A few months ago, I was doing some yard work and I didn’t put his leash on him. It was the second time he’d gotten away in two weeks. I turned around to put something up and when I turned back around, he was gone. We have five acres so Buddy hollers to go outside. I let him out, then it happened again. I went to put on the faucet to water the garden, picked up the hose and he’s long gone.
I knew he wasn’t over at the neighbor’s fishing lake because they have a rooster that chases him. I was so scared about him crossing the road. Fortunately, it wasn’t long before Buddy wandered up to the home of a local lady who read his PetLink information tags and they called me. I lost a Shih Tzu that had no chip one New Year’s Eve when all the guns and crackers were going off. So, when I first got Buddy, I had him microchipped and gave him a PetLink tag. I am so delighted that I had this done. It’s fantastic! I wouldn’t have got him back without it. For extra back-up I’m getting the book called ‘How to train your Dachshund in six days’!
