Mater, a German Shepherd, was found in the rain by a woman who walked him around trying to find his owners and ran into us out looking for him ourselves. Mater was actually in foster care and here at our pet rescue we assumed he couldn’t find his way back to the new place he was staying even though it was only a block away.
In this case, the finder didn’t get to the point of checking for a microchip but I believe that if we hadn’t been out looking for Mater she would have gotten him scanned.
