I picked my red and white Jack Russell Terrier at the pet shelter. She used to be called Noel but that isn’t a good name for training so we used the name Ella. We have a picket fence in the back yard with no neighbor at the back. She got out through the fence somehow. We weren’t sure how and were trying to figure it out when we realized Ella is small enough to slip between the slats. She was only missing a day. A woman who’s a realtor said Ella lay down in the road to make her car stop, saying ‘Take me home’. She opened her car door and Ella jumped in. Then she took Ella to the pet shelter where they found her PetLink microchip and called us. The PetLink reunion service was great. Fast, efficient and well appreciated. Ella is the only one of my dogs with separation anxiety. It got even worse after the incident and when we leave she tries to follow us so I stapled chicken wire along the length of the fence. Ella grabbed the wire in her teeth and went out again, but this time she was retrieved by a friend and brought home.
