My Tortoiseshell tabby, Valentina, sneaked out the front door the evening before New Year’s Eve, to see what the area beyond the front porch was really all about. I used the PetLink poster template to signal that Valentina was missing and that might have helped one of the neighbors to lead her back to her familiar territory, more than a day later.
Valentina didn’t turn up back in front of the door until 6:00 a.m. New Year’s Day, a little cold, dehydrated and hungry and with curious plant pieces in her fur… I’m hoping this is the only dose of “walkabout” that she’ll need and that she will now stay indoors. The sight of the front door opening actually scares her now! Valentina did a good job of hiding from us all but let’s hope she got everything she wished for from her adventuresome and extended New Year’s celebration!
