It was about 8:00 a.m. My family and I were just getting out of bed. My mother went to let the dogs out when she noticed something. There were rips in our backyard screen door. None of us knew where this could have come from, so we decided to check if all the animals were inside. We have two dogs and two cats in total. But one of our cats, Bella, was missing. Bella had gotten outside the previous night. Formerly she had never been outside by herself or beyond our backyard. Right away we were running everywhere looking for her. We put up the PetLink ‘Lost Pet’ posters, visited local stores to spread the word, told our neighbors and went bike riding around our neighborhood for four hours. At one point, we were in the middle of putting up a poster when my father saw two dark cats at the end of the street. He bolted down the street on his bike to take a closer look, but of course, both cats took off.
I never felt more nosey in my life while we were looking for Bella! We had gone through eight of our neighbors’ backyards, with permission of course, but we still couldn’t find her. We searched around some more when a major downpour began. We were all soaked but we didn’t care. We just wanted to find Bella and bring her to safety. Our home is near a police station and they had even tried to help us. But Bella was nowhere to be found. It was about 5:30 p.m. and we decided to finally take a break and eat something. After dinner my parents asked me to feed our dogs while they went to look for Bella some more. So there I was, sitting at the table getting the dogs’ food together when I heard a rather low noise. I looked to my left and there, out on the deck, was Bella, scratching the door to come back inside! I just wanted to grab her and hug her and just hold her so much. It was THE BEST feeling in the whole world. Our Bella was back home. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect ending to a rather chaotic day. The ‘Lost Pet’ posters were great and PetLink also brainstormed different ways to try to find her, which did help a lot! Thank you, PetLink!
