Elf on the shelf brought Luna to my boys when one was 6 months old and the other was 2. She slept with my oldest (who’s now 6) every night for 4 years straight. When we moved she got out and we thought we would never see her again. We continued to post, call, follow up, and check the sites, and nothing. Months had gone by and I had decided it was time for me to throw out her cat stuff. I didn’t have the heart and it was all good stuff still so I left it beside the dump.
When I was leaving my practicum, I received an email saying Luna had been found from PetLink. I couldn’t help but cry and shake. I went back to that dump and picked her things up. I tried to call SPCA and animal control, but they didn’t open till 9am. Then my phone rang and bylaw they said they got ahold of me cause of her microchip! We picked her up with the same carrier we had adopted her with 4 years prior. It was just a surreal moment. I was so thankful.
I was worried she would be skittish considering all the months she had been out fending for herself, but she was so loving and cuddly. This survivor lasted through -40 weather, seriously heart-wrenching. Our family is complete again.
