Today we were very, very lucky. After some rain this morning, our Scottie, Archie, dug a hole under the new fence in our backyard as I made breakfast. He was probably gone ten minutes before I realized he was missing. I walked the neighborhood calling his name, asking everyone if they’d seen him, but no one had.
I contacted PetLink whose great advice page reminded me to stay calm and to call the local shelter. After a few hours, I’d started to lose hope. I was driving around putting up signs when the shelter called. A lady had found a blonde Scottie and she would come and bring him to my house. Because Archie has a microchip, I knew that the lady that found Archie and took him to the shelter would have eventually found me. I waited outside and a little while later she drove past my house, Archie sitting on her lap. He was home!
