Hobbes snuck out Saturday night 1/10/26. I did not realize until Sunday morning. I reached out to PetLink, and additional social media platforms. I received a lot of suggestions, prayers and support from so many people. I will never meet the majority of them, but it was like having an unseen “family” supporting and encouraging me.
A lovely “cat whisperer” reached out, offering to assist me in finding him. I learned so much from her. She found him under my neighbor’s deck. She instructed me on how to use a “humane” trap, using his food, a BK burger, and catnip, once dusk settled in. She instructed that you need to check the trap every 25-30 minutes to be sure an enclosed animal will not suffer in the elements. I was able to see the trap from my back patio door, and noticed him come out from under the deck. He did not go into the trap, but was checking it out. She instructed me to put on all the lights in my family room, open the patio door, and call him. Within minutes, he came home!💖🙏 Because Hobbes had never had the opportunity to exit the house through that door, I did not think he would navigate his way back that way. But she taught me that he has a wonderful sense of navigating his property just by having looked out that door, watching birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. I learned so much. I am so grateful. I have a renewed faith in people. 💖🙏
