Due to divorce and housing insecurity, I placed her in the temporary care of a friend in September 2025. That friend decided for me to adopt her out when he could no longer take care of her, and I could not secure stable housing in time with his deadline (February 2026). She was my ESA and only family for a time. I'll never forget how she sat on top of me when I was shaking for three months straight after my ex-husband left.
I have attempted to contact and transfer ownership to the new person taking care of her, but I was told through a third party that the person doesn't feel the need to transfer the microchip over to their information. I'm going to Hamline University soon (June, 2026) and decided it's in everyone's best interest that she stays in a stable environment rather than coming with me to a dorm room.
