My friend dropped me off at my boyfriend’s house the night before we found Peanut. We saw something bolt across the road, but thought nothing more than ‘Probably just another stray.’ The next morning as my boyfriend and I were walking to his car, we saw this tiny, emaciated Chihuahua puppy, shivering, tail tucked between her legs, not barking, not moving, just staring right at us. My boyfriend went up to her and knelt down, but she was extremely timid. I knelt down and called her towards me. She ran right up and I wrapped her up in my work shirt so she wouldn’t be as cold. I took her home, gave her some food and water and lay in bed with her so she could warm up.
I made a quick appointment for the vet and took her as soon as I could that day. I got her vaccines, flea meds and nails clipped. No one claimed Peanut and the chip she had led nowhere. Unfortunately, the chip wasn’t registered but now I have activated it with my details so that if she was ever lost again she will be able to get home faster. I’ve had Peanut for a few months now and she’s put on the weight that she’s lost from being on the streets. She’s playful, but still a little timid. She found her fur-ever home with me and I’m so thankful for it.
