Our Chihuahua, Chuka, got out of the backyard. Some neighborhood kids went to try and get her. Chuka does not like bikes or people she doesn’t know. Instead of barking to alert us, she RUNS! On this occasion she ran off into the woods. We began to look but Chuka was nowhere to be found. All our neighbors and families from around the block searched for her but between us we still found nothing, not even a sighting of Chuka. I reported her missing on PetLink and PetLink immediately changed Chuka’s status to ‘Lost Pet’. The PetLink site has great tips to aid in the search and gave me instant access to ‘Lost Pet’ flyers. We printed out the posters, papering everything in sight for many many blocks. During our poster session the following day I received a call telling me that someone had our fur baby and that she was safe and sound. The angel who found Chuka is named Brenda. We will never forget her. Brenda had found Chuka running and dodging cars on a busy road. Of course she didn’t have to stop but she did. After chasing Chuka for half a mile she was able to catch her. Brenda took Chuka to the vet and I was called immediately after! When Chuka got out of our yard she was not wearing her collar. If she had not been microchipped, we probably would never have gotten her back. The microchip made it possible to get her home faster. I am so eternally grateful for good people and kind souls like Brenda!
