Brodie is a show dog and was with his handler at the time he got loose. The handler lives about three hours away from me so, when Brodie escaped, he didn’t know the area where he was. He was almost hit on the freeway near the handler’s houses. A kind woman driver took a risk herself to rescue poor Brodie from dodging the cars. The lady got Brodie to a pound immediately. In fact, the events all happened incredibly quickly. I got a call and an email from PetLink within only 25 minutes to an hour of Brodie being gone! I’m super glad I had him and all my dogs microchipped.
I’m definitely recommending microchipping and registering your dog on the PetLink database to everyone for sure. I also have to say that the pound who was keeping Brodie for me was super good. When I contacted them they were due to close in a half hour, I was three hours away and, as they were run by volunteers, they would be shut Friday through Tuesday. Even so, I was able to give them the name of a person who would pick up Brodie. It was great, really great.
